Why Choose Our Interactive, Virtual Classes?

Ready to learn more about fun and informative classes that take the fear out of birthing? Want to make lasting friendships with other pregnant people to share the journey with? Unlike online video classes, our interactive classes will keep you engaged and connected. Small cohorts ensure that your individual questions are always answered and that you receive personal feedback and support. Let’s be honest, there is no one size fits all approach to birthing and your unique needs and concerns matter to us.

Planning on Having a Natural Birth or an Epidural?

Enjoy the advantage of practicing positions, breathing and relaxation strategies in the comfort of your own home, in the actual space where your OB or Midwife will often ask you to spend early labour (for both hospital and home births). Many people do not know that before you are able to head to the hospital or call your midwife, you will be asked to labour at home until labour becomes more established. Most practitioners follow the 4-1-1 rule, asking you to contact them when your contractions are 4 minutes apart, lasting for one minute and continuing to do so for a full hour. If you are planning to have an epidural, it’s important to understand that you will not be given one directly when labour begins and may have several hours ahead of you before the epidural can be administered. Many birthing people don’t realize this and do not have comfort strategies for this sometimes lengthy part of labour.

With Keep Calm Birth, you will be confident and prepared for this portion of labour with mindful breathing, positioning, relaxation and physical, hands-on comfort strategies. We ensure that birthing people and their support partners, feel prepared for various scenarios and have a strong and diverse toolkit, full of strategies for more comfortable birthing. Many of our clients have natural, unmedicated births as a result.

Our prenatal classes help you and an optional birth partner prepare yourselves using proven breathing strategies, comfort measures such as counter pressure and massage, visualization and more. We help you to physically and emotionally prepare for your birth. No detail is too small. We teach the traditional units of HypnoBirthing, but we go above and beyond to help you prepare for your unique birth. This means support in how to plan for hospital and home birthing. We will walk you through all of the steps including how to make the car ride to the hospital more comfortable, what to pack and what items to have on hand for the at home portion of your birth, should there be one. We teach relaxation strategies that take your personal and unique background into account (specific religious beliefs, non-religious etc.). We truly believe that everyone deserves to access comforting strategies when welcoming their baby(ies) into the world.

Birthing With a Partner?

You may or may not be able to physically have a doula attend your birth during Covid-19, but with Keep Calm Birth, you can count on turning your birth partner into your personalized birth supporter. Our extensive training in counter pressure, comfort measures, breathing strategies, emotional support, position practice and much more, will leave your partner feeling prepared and empowered.

Our classes are not only meant to support birthing people, but also any partner of their choice. Having a friend, family member, spouse or partner with you during birthing is an intimate experience and we believe that helping your support person be better at supporting you is a win win for all. We make sure that your partner is taught a great variety of strategies to use during your birth, because there is no one-size-fits-all approach and we want to ensure that strategies work for you specifically. We support partners with custom cheat sheets so that they can remember and apply the many tools they have learned.
